![]() To the original question here.other than popping a breaker where that might make sense, how does a person go about simulating all of these seemingly hidden failure modes. G1000 for example.īack in my day of steam gauges pre-gps there would of course be differences but jumping between similar aircraft (such as typical trainer piston GA) wasn't such a leap.ĪN HSI equipped plane isn't such a leap from one with a plane old DGĪ VOR indicator was pretty much like any other To me from the outside looking in at least, it seems like it would take many hours of study and practice to understand the various systems and failure points in any given aircraft.even between two planes operating the same primary units. ADHR's, power sources on separate busses, Magnetometers, etc.Īs a very rusty old-school pilot this seems to me to be a MAJOR pit-fall of the new stuff. Still worth practicing flying with limited info, and if possible have redundant ADC's. You still have VOR's but without DME, you have to use crossing VOR radials to determine position.ĪDC's lose speed, altitude, and in some less robust PFD's even attitude and roll You lose GPS track outside of limited DR dead reckoning mode You lose the moving map although it will go into dead reckoning mode You lose all ADS-B info including traffic, real TCAS still works if you have it. Military GPS jamming took out both aircraft GPS's as well as cell phone and iPad GPS's. So mimicking those modes by covering up relevant parts of the panel, or pulling CB's to those devices can mimic real life failures. You can lose all GPS, one or more ADHRS, one or more ADC's, magnetometers, and have power failures.

I've watched different videos of both, and DCUO is considerably better looking and is TOTALLY beastly. Originally posted by vbj444:i just searched up DCUO, and I am definetly gonna download it instead of this game. but its very rewarding and imo one of the best, if not the best, example of a f2p available, and how it can be done correctly without forcing microtransactions from all of its customers/players who want to progress to end game content. Vindictus is one of the better examples of a f2p as well, not forcing you to spend money, you might consider checking it out, its all instanced unfortunately due to it being on the Source engine, but it has combat that is just as deep if not deeper and more enjoyable at times than DCUO has.Įither way, i hope you give STO a try one day, and dont rush it - it has alot to learn about it - a very steep learning curb. however one of my biggest peeves about STO is its ground combat, i tolerate it to the best of my ability, but would love for it to be something more immersive and simultanius along the lines of DCUO/Vindictus. ![]() fortunately having quite a bit of experience in both, i have come to the realization that STO is honestly also one of the best f2p available as well, considering it doesnt force you to spend any money at all to progress, and gives you the ability to earn cash shop currency in game, without forcing microtransactions on you. they do have a good f2p setup, and i would still rank it higher than a large majority of f2p out there. my only setback is the fact they do limit you quite a bit in terms of progression in DCUO at end game unless you decide to spend some money. quit playing due to something stupid, and played it again after about 2 years. ![]() I personally used to play DCUO, quite a few hundred hours i might add. ![]() The drive is also backward compatible to read and write to most DVD and CD recordable media. ![]() prototyping UI you mostly have to build first widget resources and all the like yourself for it (which is a time consuming task). ![]() Well overall the lack of actual UI design resources ( ADe assets etc.) is one of the first aspects to name here, meaning if you are going to build some actual macOS/Windows/iOS/Android etc. Does anyone have thoughts on why it isn't considered more often for this type of design? Why is it that Affinity Designer isn't recommended more for this type of design work? It's important to note that while UI and User Experience (UX) are two distinct facets, and while Affinity Designer can't facilitate navigation assignments, it's remarkably efficient at designing the UI. I've personally conducted an experiment in which I designed an entire app using Affinity Designer, and upon exporting in SVG format, found that it was compatible with all the platforms I'm familiar with and worked flawlessly. However, I've been wondering about the apparent neglect of Affinity Designer in discussions about UI/UX design. My workflow today wouldn't work for most teams, but it makes me happy-and at the end of the day that's all that really matters to me now. For UX/UI I tend to use Linea and the Affinity apps, along with OmniGraffle and Xcode/Nova. Today I spend my time writing, illustrating and making books and small 'apps/games'. Personally I can't stand Figma (or Sketch) as it doesn't really solve the underlying problems of UI/UX design, but rather focuses on ease of use and workflow (both very important, but not everything that's needed). We got there in the end, but it required workaround after workaround (not to mention dealing with ALL of the bugs). My partner still works in UX at a large corp.Ībout 12 years ago I recall having a heated argument with a young design team that was insistent on using Sketch (this was at a time when it was still an early buggy mess, and not really focused on UI/UX work), because they didn't want to learn the Adobe tools we had provided them. I began my career around the same time (from theatre design to graphic/UI design making HyperCard and Director apps in the early 90s) but retired from it a couple of years ago as I grew really tired of the 'thrashing' within the tech community in regards to their focus on 'tools and frameworks' rather than 'process and understanding'. Does anyone have thoughts on why it isn't considered more often for this type of I completely agree with you. ![]() However, I understand that exporting from Sketch to XD should be straightforward, so I'm not particularly concerned about this aspect. ![]() I was recently commissioned to design an app for a church, which requires the final project to be delivered in Adobe XD - a software with which I lack experience. Recently, an open-source tool called Penpot has come along, and impressively so, especially considering it's still in its early stages (version 1.0 or alpha state). I've been a long-time user of Sketch for User Interface (UI) design since its launch, and Figma appeared to be a natural successor in the field. The pricing scheme for Lex/Actum is as follows: Rather than charge law firms a percentage of each transaction on a per transaction basis, Lex/Actum charges a flat monthly rate and per transaction fee based on the value of the transactions your law firm processes in a month.
